Abstract

852,246. Wheel rims. FISCHER A.G., G. Feb. 14, 1957 [Feb. 14, 1956], No. 5123/57. Class 144 (2). An extruded one-piece wheel rim comprises a well base bounded on one side by a hollow section 1 defined by a sidewall 4 of the well base, an inclined tyre bead seating flange 3, a rim mounting portion 5 which terminates radially inwardly of the axially outer edge of the flange 3, and a web 6 connecting said edge of the flange 3 with the end of the portion 5. As shown the portion 5 inclines radially inwardly and axially outwardly from the edge of the well base at an angle 8, and the web 6 is bowed towards the sidewall 4. An annular tyre-retaining rib 2 is formed at the junction of the web 6 with the flange 3. The other tyre bead receiving edge of the rim may be as shown, or may also be of hollow section. In an alternative embodiment, the web 6 of the hollow section 1 is bowed axially outwardly of the rim to define also the retaining rib 2.
