[Class 39 (i)] In an electric discharge tube, the mica spacer 8 is located firmly in the envelope 5 before the electrode system is inserted, the latter having two or more rods 4, possibly insulated, which slide freely through holes in the spacer. Thus an exactly predetermined pressure may be applied to the bulb while sealing it to the base 2, either directly or by means of a glaze 7, without any impeding friction due to the mica 8 or risk of distorting the electrodes. The mica may be fixed against a seating 6, or located in a groove in the bulb.
