Abstract

647,497. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Aug. 19, 1947, No. 22977. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1946. [Class 39 (i)] The cathode and grid electrodes 1, 2, 3 of a valve, Fig. 1, are centred and supported by insulating spacers 4 which are clamped in grooves 6 at the ends of a two-part anode 5. attached to each anode half is a cylinder 7 through which is welded a support-rod 8 of narrower diameter, to reduce heat transfer. The other electrodes are thus supported only from the anode. In a modification, Fig. 3, each spacer is in halves 12<SP>1</SP> which are clamped in grooves 17 in the anode halves, which are then clamped round the remaining electrodes while held in a jig.
