Abstract

Di - (1 : 2 : 4 - oxodiazolyl) - acetone derivatives of the general formula of Fig. III, <FORM:0648907/IV (b)/1> wherein R and R1 are hydrogen atoms and wherein Z and Z1 are organic radicals are prepared by condensing two molecular proportions of an amidoxime or one molecular proportion of each of two different amidoximes with an ester of acetone-dicarboxylic acid, or by condensing equimolecular proportions of the ester and one amidoxine and condensing the product with a molecular proportion of another anidoxine. o : o 1 - Di - (3 - phenyl - 1 : 2 : 4 - oxodiazolyl-5)-acetone is prepared by adding a mixture of acetonedicarboxylic acid diethyl ester and toluene to a boiling solution of benzamidoxime in toluene. o : o 1 - Di - 3 - p - tolyl - 1 : 2 : 4 - oxodiazolyl-5) - acetone and o - o 1 - di - (3 - transstyryl - 1 : 2 : 4 - oxodiazolyl - 5) - acetone are similarly prepared. The mono-bromo derivative of o : o 1-di-(3-p-tolyl - 1 : 2 : 4 - oxodiazolyl-5-)-acetone is prepared by adding an ether solution of bromine to an ether solution of the unbrominated compound, and allowing the ether to evaporate.
