Abstract

The invention relates to compounds of the formula RCONH(CH2)2NR1R2, in which R is a pentafluorophenyl, a pentafluorophenylalkyl or a pentafluorophenylalkenyl group containing 6, 7 or 8 carbon atoms and R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, are alkyl groups of 1-3 carbon atoms. The compounds are prepared by reacting the corresponding pentafluorophenyl carboxylic acid chloride with an ethylene diamine in a solvent, e.g. ether or benzene, suitably at atmospheric temperature. Examples are given in which, by reaction with N-diethylethylene diamine, (1) pentafluorobenzoyl chloride yields N-diethyl-N1-(pentafluorobenzoyl) ethylene diamine; (2) pentafluorophenylacetyl chloride yields N-diethyl-N1-(pentafluorophenylacetyl) ethylene diamine; (3) a -(pentafluorophenyl) propionyl chloride yields N-diethyl-N1-(a -pentafluorophenylpropionyl ethylene diamine. The hydrochlorides of the products of the examples are described.
