Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0835860/IV (b)/1> and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts (wherein at least one of the positions (a), (b), (c) or (d) is substituted by an alkyl group with at most 6 carbon atoms, the phenyl groups being otherwise unsubstituted), and the preparation thereof by: (1) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0835860/IV (b)/2> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0835860/IV (b)/3> (wherein A is a halogen atom and B an OH group, or A an OH group and B a halogen atom or an OH group); or (2) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0835860/IV (b)/4> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0835860/IV (b)/5> in the presence of an organic acid, such as p-toluenesulphonic acid, the reaction mixture being heated.
