Abstract
The invention comprises a compound having the formula <FORM:0893923/IV (b)/1> wherein R is fluorine or lower alkyl having 1-8 carbon atoms and R1 is lower alkylene containing 2-3 carbon atoms in the chain and a process for the preparation thereof which comprises selectively ketalising a compound having the formula <FORM:0893923/IV (b)/2> with a lower-alkylene glycol having 2-3 carbon atoms connecting the hydroxy groups in the presence of an acid catalyst at a temperature from about 10 DEG C. to about 40 DEG C.
