[Classes 7(ii), 7(v) and 7(vi)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a single cylinder engine in which the crankshaft extends to one side only of a single cheek 14, and the connecting rod has an unsplit big-end 16, embracing the crankpin which drives a forked member 24 rotating on a.shaft 25 parallel to the crankshaft, the forked member 24 is drilled to form the cylinder of a lubricant pump, whose piston 33 is .reciprocated against a spring 35 by a pin 23 extending from the crank-pin. Suction and delivery passages 36, 37, drilled in the shaft 25, communicate with grooves 38, 39 extending wholly and partially round, respectively, the shaft 25, which may carry a sprocket for the cam shaft chain and a dog 43 for engagement with the starting handle 45. The flywheel 18, which carries cooling air blades 21, is off-set with reference to its securing boss 19 so that the takeoff pulley 20 may be nearly in line with the crankshaft bearing 13.
