Abstract
643,397. Electromagnetic switches. AKTIEBOLAGET HG. RELAY PATENT. Jan. 9, 1948, No. 728. Convention date, April 18, 1947. [Class 38(v)] In an electromagnetic switch wherein successive energizations of a magnet 1 move an armature 8 alternately to and fro between two extreme positions, the magnet has two pole pieces 15, 16 and each energization moves the armature by its momentum past the nearer pole piece and through a dead-centre position between the pole pieces into a position opposite the farther pole piece. On de-energization, gravity or a spring carries the armature through the remainder of its travel into the other extreme position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the gravity controlled armature 8 is pivoted at 9 and carries a mercury switch 3 and the parts move into the dotted position on energization of the magnet. In Fig. 5 the armature 20 is controlled by a deadcentre spring 23 and operates two sets of contacts alternately.
