Abstract

571,569. Electromagnetic switches. CLARKE, R., and LAURENCE SCOTT, & ELECTROMOTORS, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1943, No. 21223. Class 38 (v)] A spring-pressed pivoted latch 19, prevents the armature 3 of a contactor from closing under shock or vibration while the contactor is de-energized. On energization of the magnet, flux first builds up in a secondary magnetic circuit 20, 19, to cause the latch 19 to move about a pivot 8 into the position shown freeing the armature 3 so that this then moves to the right into the position shown. This movement operates the contacts and also short-circuits the secondary magnetic circuit so that the latch 19 then falls on to a stop 61 and is ready to assume its original latching position immediately the magnet is deenergized.
