Abstract

563,911. Electromagnetic switches. DONOVAN ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd., and FAIR, J. W. Jan. 30, 1943, No. 1599. [Class 38 (v)] Two electromagnetic switches, which may be starter switches for controlling electric motors are interlocked by means of two triggers b<2> which are pivoted to the framework at points b and also to the two solenoid plungers a at a<1>, the arrangement being such that when, say, the right-hand plunger a is attracted its trigger moves into the dotted position and prevents movement of the other trigger and, therefore, of the other plunger and switch. The arrangement is also such that should the left-hand solenoid be energized the direction of the force exerted by the nose of the left-hand trigger on the surface of the right-hand trigger is such as to help the right-hand trigger to move into its original position, thereby counteracting the frictional effect between the triggers which might prevent such movement when the righthand magnet is de-energized.
