[Class 36] A lead-in conductor sealed in the glass wall of a high-frequency electric-discharge tube, lamp or like hermetically closed vessel, is pre-coated with a thin layer of silver, copper, or like metal, over which a layer of chromium having a thickness of from 0.5 to 1 micron is applied. The thin chromium layer is stated to oxidize completely under the sealing heat to enhance the joint.
