625,186. Making electric discharge tubes. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Feb. 26, 1947, No. 5572. Convention date, May 25, 1944. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Soldering.-A method of exhausting and closing electric discharge tubes &c. with a metal bottom 1, comprises exhausting the tube through a hole 2 and applying fusible obturating material such as soft solder 3 covered by a film of material 5 which does not soften at the temperature used for closing the tube. The solder may be tin and the coating nickel. Silver solder electrolytically covered with nickel may be used. Specification 634,173 is referred to.
