592,831. Metal - to - glass seals. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. June 1, 1945, No. 13809. Convention date, Feb. 29, 1944. [Class 36] In an electric-discharge vacuum tube comprising a metal sleeve 10 sealed to a glass tube 12, the sleeve is formed of copper containing a small amount (e.g. 0.25-2.0 per cent) of tellurium or the like, to render the metal more readily machinable, with a thin coating 13 of pure copper, applied electrically or otherwise, the surface of which is oxidized for adhesion to the glass by heat.
