751,229. Discharge apparatus. DEUTSCHE ELEKTRONIK GES., [formerly BLAUPUNKT ELECTRONIK GES.]. Jan. 18, 1954 [Jan. 17, 1953], No. 1447/54. Class 39 (1). The copper envelope of a vacuum tube is rendered gas-tight by coating it to a thickness of 2 to 4 Á with a metal, such as silver or tin, forming a low melting point eutectic with the copper, and annealing in a high vacuum at 900-950‹ C. If the copper envelope is a machined blank, it may be plated with further copper to provide a smoother surface for deposition of the metal coating. Envelope parts may be silver-soldered together during the annealing process.
