Abstract

640,432. Two-part couplings. BRITISH MECHANICAL PRODUCTIONS, Ltd. May 20, 1948, No. 13727. [Class 38 (i)] A socket contact comprises a resilient strip bent to U-shape with limbs 4, 5 and an apertured laterally-extending limb 1 to which a terminal 10 is swaged. Integral arms 3 at the upper end of limb 4 are bent round to embrace limb 5 and limit the separation of the limbs. Tags 18 near the bottom of limb 4 when bent from the plane of the limb serve to secure the contact in a throughway 31 in a housing 30 of a socket connector by engaging in a recess in said throughway, the arms 3 resting on ledges 32. In the earth socket of the connector one of the arms 3 is omitted to allow the operating arm of a shutter to protrude into the socket.
