Abstract

964,281. Lampholders; two-part couplings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Nov. 24, 1961 [Dec. 5, 1960], No. 42200/61. Heading H2E. A terminal and contact for a lamp socket assembly comprises a hollow contact member 30 (Fig. 4) located within the bore 20 of an insulated housing 18 and a terminal member 46 having yieldable arms 50, 52 in sliding engagement within contact member 30 and legs 60, 62 engaging internal shoulders 28 in bore 20. Two longitudinal grooves 22 in which legs 60, 62 are located open out from bore 20. Contact member 30 is spring-loaded by a spring 40 located between flange 42 on member 30 and a recess 44 in housing 18, member 30 being retained by flange 34 engaging shoulders 36 in housing 18. A wire 68 is crimped, soldered or otherwise secured to the central band 48 of member 46. The terminal and contact forms a lamp socket with an outer casing 14 (Fig. 6), with resilient spring fingers 12 for mounting to a support.
