Abstract

639,257. Drafting textile fibres. WEINBERGER, J. V. Jan. 6, 1947, No. 421. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] High-draft mechanism for textile slivers comprises feed rollers A, a condenser 8, which reshapes sliver to a circular cross-section, carrier rollers B, which may be sufficiently light to avoid any appreciable deformation of the sliver, and a condenser 9, to shape the sliver to a flattened form with its major cross-sectional axis in a vertical plane. The condenser 8 may comprise a porcelain or similar element with a substantially circular eye having a flared slot opening into it. The condenser 9 is preferably a porcelain block with a vertical slot flared at its entrance. Both condensers may be connected to a traverse bar.
