Abstract
477,483. Drawing or drafting apparatus. STEVENS, A. H. (Whitin Machine Works) Oct. 23, 1936, No. 28859. [Class 120 (ii)] Cotton yarn or roving is manufactured by continuously drafting sliver from a drawing frame in successive draft stages, applying the greater part of the draft at an early stage and the remainder at the later stage or stages and false twisting the material after the high draft stage. In a fly-frame for this purpose sliver is drawn by rollers A over a lifter roller 4 and through a guide trumpet 5 mounted on a traverse bar 6, high draft, e.g. according to the Casablancas system, is applied by belts B delivering to rollers C, the material then passing through a twisting head 7 to rollers D and thence to rollers E, F and a bobbin 1. The total draft, e.g. from 15 to 80, is divided in three main stages A-C, C-D, D-F, having drafts of 5-12, 1-2 and 3-6 respectively. The minor stages A-B, D-E have only a small draft of 1À1-1À5.
