Abstract

451,487. Spinning yarn from blended slivers. GOODALL WORSTED CO., Sanford, Maine, U.S.A. March 10, 1936, No. 7217. Convention date, April 9, 1935. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] Single-ply yarn is spun from two separate rovings 10, 14 of long animal fibres, such as mohair or wool, and of short vegetable fibres, such as cotton, respectively, the former being drafted between the rollers 5, 3, and the latter between the rollers 7, 3 in such manner that, at the roller 7, the roving 10 is smaller than the roving 14, whereby the rollers 6, 7 serve as carriers between the rollers 5, 3, for the roving 10, and, with the rollers 3, as drawing- rollers for the roving 14, and the rovings merge, as shown in Fig. 5, wherein the dotted lines 51 .. 54 indicate the nips of the rollers, and are twisted by any suitable apparatus. The ends are supported by a slide 21 between the front rollers and the carriers.
