Abstract
516,544. Drawing or drafting apparatus. SOLANAS R. B. June 28, 1938, No. 19161. Convention date, July 6, 1937. [Class 120 (ii)] In mechanism for drawing slivers which comprises a porcupine roller 2, Figs. 1 and 2, the latter is surrounded by a clearer 9 constituted by a series of parallel rods or wires 92 separated by the same pitch as the rows of needles 21. The porcupine roller 2 co-operates with a fluted roller 1 and the rods of the clearer act to push the fibres outwardly along the needles 21. The rollers 1, 2 form the feed rollers of a drawing head which includes the intermediate and ' delivery rollers 3 ... 8. In a modification the clearer is formed as a chain 93 Fig. 4, having rods or wires 92 and guided on a roller 11.
