Abstract

457,513. Drawing - apparatus for spinning &c. machines. HOWARD & BULLOUGH, Ltd., HILL, H., and PILLING, J., Globe Works, Accrington. July 9, 1935, No. 19550. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] A consolidating guide is arranged between successive drawing-apparatus in spinning and like frames so that its distance from the delivery rollers C of the first drawing-apparatus is greater than the length of the longest fibres, and its distance from the feed rollers D of the second drawing-apparatus is not greater than the length of the shortest fibres. The guide is provided with a flared mouth 51 and a constricted throat 52 which is longer in the vertical direction than it is wide and is bifurcated to provide side cheeks 53 to facilitate the guiding of the flank fibres to the nip of the rollers D. The draft between the apparatus is only sufficient to provide sufficient tension for the sliver and may be of the order 1À01 to 1À02.
