Abstract
638,212. Tool boxes. BERTHIEZ, C. W. Aug. 26, 1947, No. 23540. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1945. [Class 83 (iii)] The tool carrier 1 of a slotting, shaping, or planing machine adapted to cut in both directions is mounted on a quadrant 2 which is secured to the saddle 3 by central clamping means disposed in a circle concentric with the axis of the quadrant so as to permit angular adjustment of the quadrant with respect to its axis, and supplementary clamping means are disposed in the neighbourhood of the line of action of the cutting tool and between the said line of action and the central clamping means. The central clamping means comprises bolts passing through the quadrant and having their heads slidable in T-slots 5 in the saddle 3. A curved clamping strip 6<SP>1</SP> engaging a shoulder 7<SP>1</SP> integral with the quadrant constitutes the supplementary clamping means, the strip 6<SP>1</SP> being influenced to clamp the shoulder 71 by means of bolts engaging the strip. A second and similar supplementary clamping means may be provided at the upper edge of the saddle. The tool carrier 1 is mounted in slides 9 in the quadrant 2 and is clamped thereto by levers 8 acting on the slides.
