[Class 126] A gas fire or the like is formed at the rear with a vertical air duct b which at its lower end is open to the atmosphere and at its upper end is adjacent to the combustion - products outlet d of the fire a, the adjacent parts being so arranged that the flow of air in the duct opposes that of the gases emerging from the apparatus. A gap e is formed between the adjacent ends of the parts band d so providing an outlet to the chimney f. In a modification the air duct comprises an independent fitting adapted to be mounted at the rear side of the gas fire.
