Abstract

1,128,532. Exhaust silencers. GRœNZWEIG & HARTMANN A. G. April 20, 1966, No. 17226/66. Heading F1B. Apparatus for deflecting a stream of hot gases, e.g. a ground silencer for jet engines, comprises a rectangular section entry duct 2 to which is connected a deflecting plate 1 conversely curved on the side adjacent the gas stream and provided with openings 1d to admit cooling air. The surface 1 may be provided with side walls 1c to form a channel the open side of which may also be provided with louvres 5a. The walls 1c may be provided with openings or may be porous. The inner wall surfaces may be lined with sound-absorbing material and the device may be mounted on a support plate 5, an adjustable sharp edged member 3 being provided to facilitate detachment of the gas stream from the lower surface 2b of duct 2. The outlet end of channel 1 may open into a vertical silencing duct 5b.
