Abstract
654,687. Gas burner. GREAVES, A. H. March 9, 1948, No. 7237. [Class 75(i)] In a gas burner comprising a gas chamber B formed with one or more ridges K, Figs. 5 and 6, or inverted channels J, Figs. 1 and 2, each provided with a flame orifice D, and a distribution chamber A. to which gas is fed before passing into chamber B, the flame orifices D are formed in the crest of the ridges K or channels J by notches extending through or from both sides of the ridge or channel. The chambers A and B may be formed by securing an inverted " Vee " channel portion J on to a tube H so that the orifice D in the inverted channel portion is located between apertures G formed in the tube H. Alternatively, chamber A may be formed by a tube C, provided with slits or apertures G, located within a chamber B, Fig. 5, formed by sheet metal channel-shaped members H, J seamed together' The apertured wall of the tube C is placed close to a wall of the chamber B. Other modifications are described. The shape, size and number of apertures G and their distance from orifices D may be such as to produce streamline or turbulent flames. Ends E are made readily detachable for cleaning purposes.
