Abstract

607,419. Gas burners. KEITH BLACKMAN, Ltd., and TAVENER, E. E. Feb. 4, 1946, No. 3405. [Class 75(i)] In a tubular gas burner for bakers' ovens &c. the gas discharge opening is fitted with strip members 12, 15 separated by spacers 13, 14 so as to provide at least one main slot 10 for the passage of gas mixture to form a high velocity or main flame and at least one supplementary slot 11 to produce lower velocity flames for maintaining the ignition of the main flame. The spacers 13, 14 are preferably continuous serrated strips, the openings in the ignition spacers 14 being shorter where the mixture enters than at the discharge point to obstruct the gas flow and reduce the velocity on discharge as compared with unobstructed flow to the slot 10. The spacers 14 may also be thinner than the spacers 13. Part of the mixture may be supplied to the burners through a rationing tube 20 having spaced perforations to provide even or uneven heating along the tube 16 as required and part may be supplied past a regulating valve 21 to the space above the tube 20.
