Abstract

627,801. Packaging paper; coated fabrics. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. June 20, 1947, Nos. 16387, 16388, 16389 and 16390. Convention dates, May 7, 1946, June 8, 1946, Aug. 13, 1946, and Oct. 28, 1946. [Classes 96 and 140] [Also in Group XVII] Wrapping material for packaging metal articles (see Group XVII) encloses with the article a corrosion inhibitor which is a nitrophenol or an aliphatic nitro compound in the form or a vapour or aerosol. The material, which may be paper, crepe paper, cardboard, and fabrics such as cotton, wool, silk, rayon, or asbestos, may be impregnated with the inhibitor in volatile liquid form and its permeability to vapour of the inhibitor may be decreased by treatment with paraffin, asphaltic bitumen, and resinous, waxy, or rubber-like substances. In another form the material comprises kraft paper waxed upon both sides with the inhibitor in crystal form, sprinkled on one side, the wax of which has been softened by warmth. The wax may be replaced by polyethylene, blends of polyethylene with waxes, polyakalene resins, alkyd resins (e.g. of phthalic anhydride and glycerol), ethyl cellulose and polyamide resins.
