Abstract
A coating-material consists of an aqueous bituminous dispersion made with the aid of a water-insoluble emulsifying agent and containing a powdered cellulosic material such as sawdust, cotton dust or paper dust. The emulsifying agent may be humic acid, lignic acid or an insoluble salt thereof. In an example, a material capable of application with a brush is made by adding 3 per cent of hornbeam sawdust to an aqueous petroleum pitch-humic acid-clay dispersion to which may be added, for stabilizing purposes, 2 per cent of benzine.ALSO:A coating or filling material consists of an aqueous bituminous dispersion made with the aid of a water-insoluble emulsifying agent and containing a powdered cellulosic material such as sawdust, cotton dust or paper dust. The emulsifying agent may be humic acid, lignic acid or an insoluble salt thereof. In examples: (1) a material applicable with a palette knife is made by adding 6 per cent of hornbeam sawdust to an aqueous petroleum pitch-humic acid dispersion; (2) a material applicable with a brush is made by adding 3 per cent of hornbeam sawdust to an aqueous petroleum pitch-humic acid-clay dispersion to which may be added, for stabilizing purposes, 2 per cent of benzine.
