627,132. Rotary-cylindrical valves. JOHNSON CORPORATION. May 12, 1947, No. 12797. Convention date, May 25, 1946. [Class 135] A carbon graphite valve closure member 24, is made to hold tight to a cylindrical seating surface 18 for both low-pressure cold water and high-steam pressures and temperatures, by having a relatively thick central portion 30 and relatively thin cylindrically faced side portions 26 overlapping the orifice 17, the seating face having a central depression 36 approximating the area of the orifice. A bushing 32 is press-fitted into the central portion so that the closure member slides on the pin 22 carried by the operating stem 20 and is urged towards its seat by the spring 34.
