Abstract
The alloys of the parent Specification are modified, the modified alloys having the following composition: Cr 15.0-25.0 per cent; Ni 15.0-25.0 per cent; Co 10.0-25.0 per cent; W over 7.5 and up to 15.0 per cent. Nb, Ta or V 0.5-2.5 per cent, or more than one of these elements inaggregate amount 0.5-3.0 per cent. Mo 0-3.5 per cent; N 0.05-0.25 per cent; C 0.05-1.0 per cent; Mn 0-2.0 per cent; Si 0-1.0 per cent; Fe, at least 15.0 per cent, and impurities being the remainder. In a further modification, the W content may be 0.5-15.0 per cent, at least 7.5 per cent of W being present if Mo is absent. In this alloy Ti in proportions of 0.5-1.5 per cent wholly replaces the Nb, Ta and V or Ti partly replaces these elements, the aggregate of the four elements being 0.5-3.0 per cent. In any of the alloys of the invention, Al may partly replace the elements of the group Nb, Ta and V, the aggregate of these elements being not greater than 3.0 per cent, or Al in amount from 0.5 to 2.0 per cent wholly replaces the elements of the acid group. The alloys may be formed into hot-worked, welded or cast articles which in normal use are exposed to elevated temperatures, e.g. above 1,200 DEG F.
