Abstract
625,859. Combustion chambers. SOLA, G. Dec. 10, 1946, No. 36482. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1945. [Class 7 (iii)] A combustion chamber 9 is shaped such that each fuel jet from an injector 7 is reflected at the wall 10 and after successive reflections emerges towards the cylinder head 2 and substantially parallel to the axis of the chamber. The sides 12 and 13 may be curved and the central part n of the chamber is plane so that fuel jets reaching this part will not be reflected back to the injector 7. An inclined edge 14 prevents droplets from the reflection at the wall 10 escaping from the chamber, and turbulence of the air in the chamber may be set up around the cylinder axis.
