[Class 85] Tunnel linings are formed by introducing rings built of precast reinforced concrete segments a and key segments b with enlarged heads c connected by bolts, precast concrete slabs g and a key slab g<SP>1</SP> being then inserted between each pair of adjacent rings with their ends engaging channels f in the rings. At or above springer level, adjacent rings are connected by flat reinforcing plates bolted thereto and embedded in concrete to form beams k. Liquid concrete is then passed through holes i to the exterior of the lining. Internally the lining may itself be lined with bricks, concrete, &c.
