Abstract
944,064. Conduits; tunnels. WILLIAM F. REES Ltd., D. F. REES, and S. A. GOTHARD. Jan. 18, 1962 [Jan. 23, 1961], No. 2576/61. Headings E1C and E1F. A lining 11 for sewers, culverts, tunnels and like ducts is in the form of a thin shell of resinbonded fibreglass which is preformed in sections 13 from which it is built up within the duct (Figs. 1 and 2). The shell may be made to fit within the duct to leave a space between it and the duct for grouting 21 and may comprise archshaped sections 13 jointed to invert sections 16, e.g. in grooves 15 and by means of mortar 24 (Fig. 6), which may be precast reinforced concrete, earthenware, cast iron, or other ductlining material. Alternatively, arch-shaped sections 33 may be jointed to kerb members 35 of precast concrete or other duct-lining material secured in the duct, e.g. a tunnel 31 (Fig. 7). The members 35 may have grooves 34 to receive the sections 33 (Fig. 8), (retained therein by wedges 36 of e.g. concrete), which may be of panelled form. The sections 33 may incorporate spacing pins, which act in conjunction with wedges 14, to locate them in spaced relation to the duct walls and are jointed together and sealed by suitable compounds. They may be recessed at one end to form lap joints. According to the Provisional Specification an abrasionresistant material in sheet form may be bonded to the fibre-glass face along the invert section.
