Abstract

621,635. Mixing-machines. STRINO, D., TRINCHERO, L., and MELLANA. A. Sept. 2, 1946, No. 26376. Addition to 621,634. [Class 86] The whisk claimed in the parent Specification is modified, firstly, to enable the driving mechanism to give two or more different speeds of revolution to the operating member; secondly, by providing a resilient bayonet joint to couple the operating member to the driving shaft; thirdly, by forming the operating member in the shape of a grid; and fourthly, by a more elaborate construction of clamp. As shown in Fig 1, the two-part box 13, 29, containing two pairs of speed-multiplying gear wheels 27, 27<SP>1</SP> and 28, 28<SP>1</SP> through which the shaft 17 is driven, is provided with a secondary shaft 31<SP>1</SP> in addition to the main shaft 31, so that the operating member may be driven at a reduced speed by fitting the handle 26 to one or other of the shafts. The coupling of the operating member 18 to the shaft 17 comprises a sleeve 36, Fig. 3, engaged by a peg 17<SP>1</SP> on the shaft and having a bayonet slot 36<SP>1</SP> in which a pin 18<SP>1</SP> on the operating member is held in engagement by means of a spring 38a. The operating member, Fig. 6, consists of vertical bars 38', all at different distances from the axis of the operating shaft 18, arcuate transverse members 39, 39<SP>1</SP>, and a beak 38 0 to return escaping material downwards. The clamping sleeve 2, Fig. 1, is provided with a slot 2‹, the post 1 being gripped by means of a screw 6 engaging a pair of lugs 2c and provided with an actuating rod 6<SP>1</SP>. A split ring 11 mounted on the post 1 and bearing against the sleeve 2, is tightened by means of an actuating button 12<SP>1</SP>. The ring 11 has a projection 11' adapted to bear against a projecting rim 2b of a semi-circular curb 2a so that the device can be returned to its centred position after rotation to remove the receptacle B.
