621,445. Drying grain. YOURSTON, J. C., and ANDERSON, G. S. Feb. 26, 1947, No. 5552. [Class 34(ii)] A column-type drier fitted with internal louvres comprises two grain columns 2, 3, surrounded by an air jacket 1 which is divided transversely by baffles 7 into three sections 4, 5, 6. Drying air enters at an inlet port 8 and after traversing section 4 and 5 in turn, is exhausted from section 6 by means of discharge ports 11 tc which a suction fan (not shown) is connected. The grain is stored in a hopper 15 and is preheated on its passage into the drying columns by hot water pipes 14. The grain is subsequently cooled in section 13 by cold air.
