787,144. Rotary drying apparatus. BIANCHI, A. and JANETTI, P. B., [trading as SOC. ITALIANA ESSICCATOI' SOC. ACC. SEMPL]. Oct. 10, 1955 [Oct. 15, 1954], No. 28769/55. Class 34(2) Apparatus for drying granular material has coaxial outer and inner foraminous rotatable cylinders 1, 2 between which the material passes, in the helical path provided by a diaphragm 11, in countercurrent to hot air supplied from a furnace 16 to a gas inlet 15 at one end of cylinder 2 by a fan 17. The material is picked up from a tank 7 by scoops 9 attached to the outer cylinder and dried material is discharged from an opening 12 controlled by an oscillating shutter 13. In a modification mixing vanes are provided in the space between the cylinders and in a further modification the last portion of the cylinder is supplied with cold air by an auxiliary fan to cool the grain before discharge.
