756,258. Rotary drying apparatus. WEISS, E. W. [trading as WEISS-TROCKNUNGSANLAGEN, EMIL W. WEISS]. July 6, 1954 [July 7, 1953], No. 19814/54. Class 34(2). A rotary drying apparatus has a rotary inner casing a, of fire-proof material from b to c and forming a combustion chamber for oil from a burner l on a fixed support m, the part c to d being surrounded by a casing e and forming with the combustion chamber a heating chamber H. The material to be dried, fed through a shoot v passes through a helically extending chamber T formed by helix i between the chamber H and an outer rotary casing h closed at one end by a cover t and opening at the other into a discharge housing w from which the dried material is pneumatically conveyed by a fan x to a cyclone z having its outlet opening on to a vibrating sieve through which the finer material falls into a bagging silo, the coarser material being returned to housing w. Hot gases from chamber H are mixed with air entering between walls a, e and openings f and the mixture flows, owing to suction from fan x, through passages g into the helical chamber T.
