Abstract

550,587. Drying seeds and grain. JENKIN, T. J. April 14, 1942, No. 4887. [Class 34 (ii)] Grain'or seeds are fed into an inclined cylinder A through a longitudinal opening h and dried by a current of hot air admitted through a longitudinal slot at the bottom of the chamber, the seeds being agitated by inclined adjustable vanes f on a rotating shaft c. The shaft is below the longitudinal axis of the cylinder to provide a space above the material for the expansion of the escaping air current. The material falls under the control of flaps n, g<1> into a hopper g and into a second cylinder B, where it is treated by an upward current of cold air during stirring by vanes in the same manner as in the first cylinder. The cold air escapes through an upwardly extending conduit h<1>.
