Abstract

721,994. Hulling grain. MIAG VERTRIEBSGES., and MAHLKUCH, E. Oct. 26, 1950 [Jan. 5, 1950; April 17, 1950], No. 26114/50. Class 58. [Also in Group II] A hulling machine for grain comprises conveyer worms 3, 12 mounted on a shaft 2 and disposed respectively in an inlet 1 to and an outlet 9 from a jacket 6. The shaft carries beater members 5 which are shaped, e.g. helically, to impel grain &c. upwardly, and the lower part at least of the shaft is hollow and provided with holes 15 for the circulation of air. The jacket 6 may be perforated and enclosed by a removable casing 7, as shown, or imperforate. When the jacket is imperforate its inner surface may be provided with pins, cams, grooves or ribs. When the jacket is perperforated, sieved materials leave through an opening 8 in the casing. The casing is preferably divided longitudinally into two halves which are held together by hinges and quick-locking devices.
