Abstract

677,073. Cleaning grain &c. BUHLER, GEB. May 20, 1949 [May 25, 1948], No. 13591/49. Class 58 In an apparatus for cleaning grain and milling products such as bran having a beater rotor 3 and a frame with a perforated drum 2 there are provided a tangential inlet and means for regulating the length of the path of the materials. As shown, Fig. 1, the material is fed tangentially between two interlinked baffles 6, 6 pivotably disposed between two sidewalls extending parallel to the axis of the perforated drum 2 which baffles are adjusted by a setting means operated by a wheel 14 so that the entry of the material may be adjusted along the length of the drum. In a modification, Fig. 6, the material enters the drum tangentially at 16 the drum being provided over its entire length on the inside with baffles 17 adjustable by the common adjusting means 18 so that the length of travel may again be varied according to comprises three slides 22 arranged in line lengthwise of the drum so that the length of travel may again be varied according to which slide is open. In another modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the drum is provided with a bay extending over its entire length comprising an impingement face against which the material is flung at each revolution of the beater.
