Abstract

624,360. Husking grain and seeds. JINDRICH, V. March 8, 1946, No. 7251. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 8, 1946] [Class 58] A peeling or husking machine comprises a casing 17 containing a plurality of discs 2 which rotate at high velocity and have abrasive surfaces 26 on the circumference and which are mounted on a rotatable horizontal shaft 11 about which is mounted coaxially a perforated rotatable cylindrical member 3 which revolves with low velocity in the opposite direction. Helical ribs 4 on the interior of the cylindrical member 3 convey the grain from the entrance 5 to the exit 6. A fan 16 having a conduit 18 attached to the casing 17 withdraws waste material through the perforated cylinder 3 into the casing 17. A valve . 19 in the casing when open allows secondary air to enter the conduit 18 whereby the entraining force of the air current in the machine is reduced and the passage of the less husked grain accelerated. By closing the valve the air current is increased so that the passage of the grain is retarded and its husking increased.
