Abstract

683,372. Centrifugal machines. BIRD MACHINE CO. June 20, 1951 [June 20, 1950], No. 14626/51. Class 23 A centrifuge comprises a rotary bowl 10, having an inlet 36 and oppositely arranged outlets 42, 32 for the discharge of liquid and solid materials respectively, and a rotary conveyer 30 having helicoidal vanes 50 which are disposed between the convolutions of the conveyer blade and have radially inclined marginal portions. The bowl and the conveyer are rotated at different speeds by gears 16, 20 respectively. The bowl is cylindrical, conical, barrelshaped or is partly cylindrical and partly conical whilst the conveyer is shaped correspondingly. The ports 42 are situated further from the axis than the thresholds 34 of the ports 32.
