Abstract

1,094,025. Centrifugal separators. J. A. N. ROUSSELET. Aug. 17, 1966 [Sept. 7, 1965], No. 36776/66. Heading B2P. In a centrifuge for treating liquids and comprising a rotary frusto-conical bowl 2 divided internally into two or, as shown, three compartments 3, 4, 5 by means of annular plates 6, 7 light and dense liquid components 9, 11 as shown, are respectively discharged from the compartments 3, 5 through substantially radially extending pipes 14, 8 which are adjustably secured to the plates 6, 7 and the sediment 10, which may be of a fluid nature, is removed from the compartment 4 by means of a spoon or scoop 16 which intermittently penetrates the layer of sediment. The plates 6, 7 at their periphery are provided with ports 12, 15 to allow for the passage of the dense liquid and of the sediment from the compartment 3 into the compartments 5, 4 respectively. Any liquid entering the compartment 4 may be sucked out by a suction device 13. The liquid mixture to be treated is fed through a pipe 17 which opens into a spray cone 20. The bowl is surrounded by a stationary casing 21 having an enlarged portion 22 in which a baffle 25 is provided to direct the light and heavy liquid components towards discharge pipes 23, 24 respectively. A door 27 equipped with sight holes closes the small end portion 26 of the casing. The separator may be vertically mounted.
