Abstract
1,025,079. Centrifuge. BETEILIGUNGSUND PATENTVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. Jan. 30, 1964 [Jan. 31, 1963], No. 4034/64. Heading B2P. Sludge enters a centrifuge drum 1 by means of a pipe 3 and acceleration cone 2, and a flocculating agent is added, by means of coaxial pipe 4, to sludge which has already been at least partially accelerated to maximum angular velocity. The flocculating agent effects conglomeration of small sludge particles to facilitate centrifugal separation. Both pipes 3 and 4 are independently axially movable to select the zones of the drum or cone where sludge and agent are added. Drum 1 and surrounding bowl 5 rotate at different speeds so that the external screw on drum 1 pushes solid material leftwards to outlet 6, while separated liquid flows over a weir to outlet 7, the holes in drum 1 allowing both solids and liquid to enter the annular space between drum 1 and bowl 5.
