Abstract

1330097 Centrifugal separator ALFA LAVAL AB 6 April 1972 15906/72 Heading B2P A centrifugal separator has a rotor 1, 2 provided internally with a stack 8 of conical separation improving discs 10, 11 of two kinds, the diameter of the central hole of the first kind (11) being relatively large and that of the central hole of the second kind (10) being relatively small, at least one disc of the first kind being inserted between adjacent discs of the second kind, and the radially outer edges of all discs being located at a distance radially inside the inner wall of the rotor. The separator may be used for concentrating rubber latex which is fed via a distributor 4, channels 7 and holes 9. Axial vanes are provided at 13. High viscosity cream is discharged through an overflow outlet 14 and holes 16 and low viscosity skim via channels 17 and holes 18. The inner edges of the discs 11 may be located radially inside or outside the distribution holes 9. Both kinds of discs are provided on the skim side with round caulks 19 of relatively small height and the discs 10 are provided on the cream side with radially extending caulks 20 of greater height.
