Abstract

861,711. Hulling soya beans. KOVASZNAY, I, and KOVASZNAY [nee TROYKO], E. March 9, 1959 [March 18, 1958], No. 8140/59. Class 58. The beans are subjected to the effect of water vapour at a temperature below 100‹C. for between 2 and 5 minutes and then chilled in water. They are then introduced, as through a tube 7, together with water fed from a pipe 8, into a machine such as illustrated wherein rotating paddles 5 project the beans on to the inner roughened surface of the casing 1 whereby the cotyledons are separated from the hulls and embryos which are carried away by the water. The cotyledons are then dried at between 70‹ and 75‹C.
