Abstract
620,385. Two-part couplings. ETABLISSEMENTS P. SOURIAU. Jan. 17, 1947, No. 1589. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1942. [Class 38 (i)] The plug member 20 is secured to the socket member 10 by means of pins 30 which engage vertical slots 11 in the member 10 and short vertical slots leading to helical grooves 15 in an outer rotatable ring 14. The latter is provided with internal projections which engage in horizontal slots leading from the slots 11 as shown in Fig. 3. The ring 14 is pressed upwards by a spring 17 and is secured to a sleeve 19. When the plug is pressed into the socket member the pins 30 pass down the slots 11 and the helical grooves 15, causing the ring 14 to rotate. The vertical openings of the grooves 15 are thus removed from alignment with the slots 11 and the plug cannot be withdrawn till the ring has been rotated in the opposite direction. The ring is retained in its extreme positions by the projections on its internal surface engaging in notches 12, 13 in the horizontal slots in the socket 10. As shown in Fig. 1, the plugs 25 and sockets 6 are carried by insulating members in the parts 20, 10.
