[Class 38 (i)] The plug contacts of a coupling, of the split pin type described in Specification 403,448 are inserted in a preformed body of rubber by providing the body with internal cavities to fit the eye enlargement on the contact and with slits leading into the cavities and forming channels to clasp the prong of the contact. The contact 3, Fig. 4, may be forced directly into the cavity 2 through the slit 6, and the resilient retaining force of the slit on the prong 8 may be increased by forcing a ring 9 over the body 1. The lead 5 is previously passed through a channel 4 and attached to the contacts. In a modification the contacts may be pressed in from the back of the body either through a prolongation of the slit 6 which prolongation may be closed by the use of a second ring 9, or through a recess 12, Fig. 7, into which the cavities 2 open and which is closed by a rigid disc 16 retained by a flange 15 overhanging its edge. A screw 17 may be added. An inverted arrangement having the shanks 8 passing through the disc 16 may be employed. The body 1 may have two pairs of cavities and slits. so that it can be made up into either a 5 amp. or a 15 amp. plug.
