[Class 143] The cut-off gate 2 of the feed hopper 1 of an automatic-feed weigher is controlled by a pair of counterweighted trigger catches 4, 8, which are tripped in succession by the weigh-beam 5 to effect respectively an initial partial closure and a final complete closure of the gate, the catch 4 co-operating with an arm 6 rigid with the pivot axis 3 of the gate, whilst the other catch 8 co-operates with an arm 7 loose on the axis 3 and engaging the arm 6 to prevent full closure of the gate when the catch 4 is tripped and until the second catch 8 is tripped. In the form shown the catches engage their respective arms by means of anti-friction rollers. The arm 6 has an arcuate extension 6b onto which the catch 4 passes when tripped, and such extension carries an adjustable screw 6c for engagement with an abutment 7c on a similar arcuate extension of the loose arm 7 engaged by the catch 8. When the gate 2 is fully open, arm 6 overlies arm 7 and both are engaged over their respective catches 4, 8. When the weigh-beam 5 first moves, a pin 5b on an extension 5a trips the catch 4 and the gate drops to the partially closed position shown, determined by engagement of the screw 6c with the abutment 7c of the arm 7 which is still held by its catch 8.. A dribble feed ensues until the full weight is made up when a shorter pin 5c on the weigh-beam trips the catch 8 so allowing the gate to drop to the fullyclosed position. Adjustment of the screw 6c determines the dribble-feed rate, whilst adjustment of the pins 5b and 5c determines the moment of partial and final cutoff and enables compensation to be made for the material in suspension at the moment of cut-off.
